HEISGREATERTHANI
THURSDAY FEBRUARY 7, 2013

It's six o'clock in the morning, all I can think about is how I have triumphed over their arts and temptations. Those who have collectively constituted antichrist, and tried to turn me away from the truth. "Because greater is he that is in me, than he that is in the world." The reason I have received so much blessings in my life is because of the dwelling God has on my heart. With strength and grace alone, I have achieved victory. I was able to have the power over Satan. This is why "HE>i". This is why He will forever reside in my heart.

God uses all sorts of people to do his work---just like you and me! There is going to be times where God's guidance will come to us out of blue. He uses the abilities he has already built into us to carry on his work. That's why we should not be afraid to use what we have to inspire others.
MY ANGEL: ARLENE ESTELLE BROWN
FRIDAY APRIL 13, 2013

Arlene Estelle Brown April 13, 1944- May 20, 2006

Dear My Guardian Angel, The thought of your smile brings warming tears to my heart. The remembrance of your love and tender soul gives me greater joy than any other. I thank God that He has given me the best angel in His army; to be my shield and earthly guide. I thank God for the joyful moments He has allowed me to have with you. I will never forget your wisdom, your piercing brown eyes through your umbrella-like glasses, and most importantly your beautiful, white smile. There is not a day that goes by where I do not cry tears of joy as I get flashes of moments we shared. There not many words or expressions that can describe every single feeling I have in my body. I just pray that you will soon meet me with God when I arrive at the gates of heaven. I love you, Grandma and I hope you are living the after life as the queen that you are. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MY LOVE!

Matthew: "Do Not Worry"

MATTHEW: "DO NOT WORRY". "The acceptance of the Holy Spirit brings fullness to the heart."- Steven brown.

Last Weekend, I returned home to escape from the "city-life", and think about what it is to come; in addition, to giving schooling a break. During my time, I had moment where I began to worry about the unnecessary such as what I will eat, what I will drink, and even what I will put on the next day. As always I wondered why.

The following day while I was in church. I turned to my father and asked him "Why do we as people become concerned with things that should be easily pursued. He turned to me while flipping through his bible and asked me to read a few passages. The first read:  "Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" Matthew 6:27. In return I said "I do not understand." He told me to continue reading and I did as I was told. So, I read to passage from the beginning this time: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" Matthew 6:25-27. When I conclude this part of highlighted lines, I knew that my life was more precious than the things God are already knows you need.  As I continued reading, a lot of my answers were being  explained. I knew that all my worries should not, and that I should seek God first and His righteousness; for I will have all the things that I need.

In relation to my attire, you can see I was dressed very secure yet feeling free of worries by the was my body movement is illustrated in the photographs. There's been time when people I would see people go a rampage trying to put things together. Instead, of relying of their faith and judgement with themselves and God. Regardless of the fact, the clothing that placed upon the human anatomy is mere disguise from identity your inner being. In other words, they're placed upon you to expressed the individual that you are. The same goes with foods or drinks, God already knows you need that and He will find a way to supply you with your needs. We as people must wake up and learn to feeling joy and happiness; for everything is already taken care of. Promptly, the message being emulated is "...do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." I consider that you remember this for when any of you begin to suddenly worry about the givens. With that said, have a wonderful weekend and God Bless!

Prayers

PRAYERS. I have been searching and searching for the perfect attire to explain a concept I learned from my father and other friends. However, with other things in effect, I have had to keep a prayers list together for future purchases. I have faith God will come through for me. To make a long story short, I will be purchasing  items like or similar to the ones above. Top to Bottom: Maximus Spike Studded Long Sleeve, Red Bottom Studded Loafers, Black Cross Necklace, Two Finger Cross Ring, Cotton Fleece Pants, and Round Black Glasses.

Two Are Better Than One

TWO ARE BETTER THAN ONE. Last night, I stayed up all night talking to my sister and reading my manual (bible). More specifically, I read Ecclesiastes 4. Although, it preached about how certain were meaningless, like chasing the wind "Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbor. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit." Ecclesiastes 4:4. As striking as this passage was, it left me wondering what "meaningless" and "vexation of spirit" means as far as context goes.

However, I continued reading and paused at a passage saying "Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour." Ecclesiastes 4:9. This resulted in me thinking that with any situation if there are two people working together, the more tasks that can be completed. In reference, my partner and I for our school project had to work together, in order, to create a design that more than successful. To add, it made me think of a marriage where you must have two people who work together, and is will to assist the other if they fall. In Ecclesiastes 4:10 it comments "For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up." Confirming how if one person is to fall, the second is their to catch them.

In relation to my attire above, it shows how every piece of clothing leans on one another to create a overhauling balance. For the vintage train sweater, relies on the blue jean to bring it closer to the eyes, in addition, to the boots working with the jean. In this case their Three "...are better than one".  Evidently, you can see how each piece is dependent on the other to create a stronger ensemble. Now, with the sunglasses being all alone shows how it can either be defeated or not as affective as the other pieces. "And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken." Ecclessiastes 4:12. This show how if a man overpowers one, two shall withstand or withhold him; and three strands with not be broken. All in all, no single factor can stand alone without being defeated; two is always better than one.

Message of the Week:
"There is no end of all the people, even of all that have been before them:
they also that come after shall not rejoice in him. Surely this also is
vanity and vexation of spirit." Ecclesiastes 4:16

Colossians

COLOSSIANS. "We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you" Colossians 1:3. Since, I have sought out my faith in Christ. I was recommend to hear the truth of the gospel. As Paul, Timotheus, and Epaphras declared my love in the Spirit. I decided to obey Christ and walk worthy of the Lord as I be fruitful in every good work, and increasing my knowledge of God. The sunny hues that engulfs my statureas I am surrounded by all things created by Him. The glory punctured into my eyes is only Him, looking down upon asking me to join in His name and follow a righteous path, indeed. Even though, He is absent in flesh, however, He is with you and I in spirit, "...joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness  of your faith in Christ" Colossians 2:5. When you and I think He has not forgiven us for our trespasses, He has already done so.  I say to you "let no man therefore judge you...Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels" In other words, fear no man but God. Seek your affection only above, for He is all you need.

As Christ appears, I shall be with him in glory. Lying not to any other, as I have put the old man behind with his deeds. Having put on a new man, refurbished in knowledge. Always remembering to forgive and for bear "if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye." Colossians 3: 13. We all must obey others we encounter with everyday. We shall continue in prayer.  Letting our "...speech be always be with grace, seasoned with salt, and that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." Colossians 4: 6. Remember my (Paul) bonds. Grace be with you. God Bless!

Baptism

BAPTISM. Last Saturday, I went home for vacation to attend my mother's baptism. When I arrived home, I immediately settled myself in. Placing all of my belongs in their designated areas. Before I knew it, I was eating all of my favorite foods and sweets. At that point, I was glad to be home. Moreover, the following day I returned to the house of the Lord. Where my mother was prepared to be baptized by our Pastor. As I watched her enter the pool of water, I could see an intent glow as if God was there welcoming her into His kingdom. However, I could see as she smiles into the Pastor's eyes, her heart filled with fear. The moment the Pastor finished introducing the points of the ceremony, he smoothly but quickly dipped my mother in the water. Finalizing her commitment to accept the Lord as her savior. In the end, as she wipes the water off her face, I could see a sudden relief and weight lifted off her shoulder.  Mostly importantly, a new life, a new woman, and a new daughter of God formed.

ps. my mother will be reading the comments on this post 0:) (hint hint).

Updates

UPDATES. It's 8:49 AM I have been up mostly all night trying to get all my assignments done while maintaining a social life. These past weeks have not been prevailing. My mind was not functioning how it normal should have, which causes lost of thinking. This resulted in me not coming up with successful designs for my project that were throughly thought out. However, all of that changed when I spoke with my mother about my issues. Surprisingly, it is was then I begin to come up with a full description for each and every idea I had in mind. I guess it a mother's intuition that brings us as their children back to earth. As I spoke with her, I was able to blabber about every pin that's been poking. And boy did I ramble! I mean the women hardly got  a word in but she knew I just needed ear to listen. When I stopped talking, and allowed her to speak. She was able to give a few words of advice: " Never be afraid to say what is on your mind, and be sure to follow the script as written out." Even though, she did not say it in an extravagant, philosophical way she was able to tell me to speak mind and go with my intentions. I knew then I must no longer be humble, and voice my opinion. I must no longer second guess my opinion but follow my own intuition. I once read that: "God's promises to guide us when we reach out to Him." In many ways, I have to always search for His well being so that he may continue to bless me in times of grief.

God Bless,

Steven Brown

New In

NEW IN.  What's up, guys? Today, was an awesome day.  I decided to meet up with a good friend of mine, Rebecca. In addition, to her boyfriend Christian. We all decided to go thrifting at local vintage stores around Lower Westside. We first went to Rag-A-GoGo, an awesome thrift with thousands of good finds. I did spot a few things, but I had my eye set on a specific item: an oversized, light weight army jacket. Anyway, neither of us could find anything in specific, so we ventured off down to Soho. We stopped at a small sandwich shop where order a few "Manhattan Clubs". Also for dessert, we went to Molly's Cupcakes which is absolutely the best place to be. I must say they're giving Georgetown Cupcakes a run for their money. Anyway, afterwards we made our way to Urban Outfitters, who were having a sale on clothing items. This is when I found the oversized army jacket (above) for a very low price. I have been search for one I can call my own. However, be prepared to see a lot more of this jacket in the future. Ciao!

Calamity Overtakes

CALAMITY OVERTAKES. Everyday, I strive for greatness. Hoping and prayer that the days will get better. This week has been a drag, everything is moving slower than usual. I have been given a long list of tasks to complete, minute by minute, I am getting them done. However, I do not feel I have been doing my best; and it's not only with just school work but with life itself. As I walk the streets, I dream, I dream of all of the expectancy the future holds. Unfortunately, as soon as I stop dreaming, I realize how bitter life is. How people expect you to live life as they sees fits. Communicating to you as if you were a worthless figure, scraping the pits of earth. Thats how I've been feeling up until this day.

Today, I woke up alive, fruitful, and overwhelmed. I noticed everything I was stressing about were only temporary. In addition, to all the people that did not take my words seriously or ignored me as if my opinion does not count. Although, there has been numerous accounts when I felt the devil himself was trying to penetrate my blessing. I remember a passage where it stated:

I in turn will laugh when disaster strikes you;
I will mock when calamity overtakes you—
when calamity overtakes you like a storm,
when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind,
when distress and trouble overwhelm you.
“Then they will call to me but I will not answer;
they will look for me but will not find me,
since they hated knowledge
and did not choose to fear the LORD.
Proverbs 26, 29

There will come a time when someone will need, and you will not be there. A time when you tell someone advice, only to prevent difficult situation, and they will not accept it. All in all, you will have the last humble laugh.

TWEEDED WHEAT. Here is a photograph of my vintage tweeded blazer; it is my obsession. You will be seeing more over it, so stay tuned. God Bless !

Peppermint Sea

PEPPERMINT SEA. This week has been a journey. I arrived to New York already bombarded with list of duties and tasks to complete. Luckily, I was able to catch a break through all it. Thursday afternoon, I meet up with my good friends, Kaitlyn Edwards and Tracy Pellington.  We all decided to walk to the Highline (in the Meatpacking District) to photograph and just get acquainted. As we were walking, I had gotten heavily inspired by the atmosphere of the Highline. Specifically, the area where these red-orange branches, deep tone grey rocks, and beautiful apartment building were (as you see above). Solemnly, I found my outfit to resemble some of the trends that happen in the 1940s or 1960s with the pin-striped shirts, polished brown shoes, and tweed blazers. However, I enjoy incorporating different esthetics into my wardrobe and creating a new way of life for it.

Besides that, Tracy, Kaitlyn, and I decided to end our outting at Espresso, a local cafe near 14th Street, where we ordered a few hot chocolates and almond croissants. If you are ever in New York you should definitely head over to Meatpacking District and grab an Espresso. You will not be disappointed, trust me. Anyway, I hope you guys have a wonderful week. Ciao!

Ps. I will be adding a new element to the blog called "Proverbs Avenue" where I will be taking street photographs of people who emulate great style. In addition, to any worthy and valuable projects that I do over the course of the next few months. Lastly, I would like to start doing v-blogs and photo dairies. Hopefully, I will be able to follow through with them. Wish me luck!

Scarlet

SCARLET. How beautiful is when you're able to see gorgeous white snow fall before your eyes? It is a sight to see. Sunday afternoon, after coming from Fairfield, CT, and being restrained from sunlight. I opened the window to see anything but little snow flurries, frantically falling from the sky. I knew I could not stay in the window, and watch it long. I had to capture the feeling firsthand. So, I packed my camera and headed out the door. With me came my lovely sister, Shaina. The entire time we were taken photographs, I could not believe how bright the sun was. I mean the sun was literally, reflecting off the nicely padded snow bed. I know, insane right? Anyway, I remember watching almost every car that passed by, having trouble driving over the thick snow. Luckily, it did not last too long before City Clean-up drove by to swipe the lovely snow away. My heart was definitely torn but I was able to enjoy it while it lasted.

Moreover, I need to thank all of those who have shown so much support with the contest I am currently in called "PROJECT" for AzaleaTV. I truly appreciate it. I hope and know you all will keep supporting. In addition, to maybe getting your other friends on LookBook to vote as well. Speaking of friends, I have been receiving so many new friends on LB since I joined the contest. I thought that was an outstanding blessing, due to the fact, I joined LookBook to meet people from around the world. I just pray that I can meet some of them in person. Besides that, I hate to stop writing to abruptly but I am pressed with time. I hope everyone will have a wonderful week and may all your prayers come true.

When Its Cold Outside

WHEN ITS COLD OUTSIDE. So, remember I told you guys a few days how I almost freeze trying to take photographs? Well, here is the final product of that terribly, cold day. I decide to keep it simple, and allow more focus to be directed to the videography rather than the photographs. On the other hand, I would like to thank my fellow blogger, Peter from MWCAE, for suggesting to continue adding "Video LookBooks" to my outfit post. It may be a "Proverb's Tradition" for now on.

Moreover, I am wearing the following items:
Hat: Zara
Shirt: Local Store
T-shirt: Basic
Jeans: Cheap Monday
Boots: Gifted

To add, I have less than a week until I head back to New York. I am so excited. I truly know God has so much in store for me. Mostly importantly, I know He has blessings lined up. However, I just thank Him every day for guiding and teaching me the laws of the Bible. Lord knows, where I'd be without Him. Besides that, I hope you all have a nice weekend.

Ps. I am joining the contest on LookBook called "Project". For those of you who have a LookBook, please go to the entrees or my profile and hype THIS look above. Also, from Jan. 30, 2012- Feb. 3, 2012 I am will need all of you to vote on the Project Facebook Page here. If and only if, I make it to the final 3. With that said, I hope to see all of your support within the next 2-3 weeks.

Update

UPDATE. So, for the past few days, I have been unsuccessful. With finances being a bit low, I have been on refrained from purchasing materialistic items; however, it is only because I have been putting my efforts towards building my clothing line "Careless Mind" with partner, Shaina Brown. Yes, she is my relative. In addition, to finding a new job.  I have dedicated my time to developing designs for the line. I must say it is going great. All I am looking forward to is bringing the collection to life; but, I am not going to rush the process. Life is going good at this point.

Moreover, I was able to take a few "outfit" photographs, and might I comment "...it was fucking cold." Fortunately, it did not stop me from completing my goal of capturing a photograph of my outfit. I remember continuously returning back to the car to warmup, in order, to come back and get the shoot (which will be posted soon). Regardless of the fact, it was a success that day; and I look forward to the next outing.

Lastly but not least, I have less than two weeks until I return back to school. I am dreading it so much, but looking forward to it at the same time. Anyway, it is difficult to explain. To add, I will be a second semester student full of new and fresh ideas. I cannot wait to get my hand on a window, so I can bring my visions to life.

Solemnly, if you ask me, being home has given me time to develop a stronger game-plan. I've decided to make my dreams come to life and enjoy life as I should be. As a God would say "there is a...time to tear down and a time to build." This is my time to build, to build a future and legacy for myself. And let just say I will not stop until I have prevailed, and it is my time to grace pass the heavenly gates.

Message for the week:

"Trust in the Lord will all your heart
       and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight"
Proverbs 3:5 and 3:6

God Bless,

Crew & Crew

CREW&CREW. How insanely boring is it, when you are home alone? Do not answer, it is terrible. However, I decided to fill my day with taking a few photographs. Hey! I did not have anything else better to do. Luckily, I will not have to accept this boredom for too long since I will be working another job soon. I cannot wait to get back to New York, so I can apply and check back with few stores in the area. Besides that, I thank God I am alive and progressing.

Stand Firm

BLUE WISDOM. As I was reading through the book of Proverbs, there was a scripture that read "When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever..." (Proverbs 10:25). I felt inspire by this, so I decided to create a photograph(s) that resembles a righteous man standing firm, as the leaves and glass seeps through him (portraying a storm effect). Successfully, I was able to capture that moment since my body language shows stability and strength; showing that I will never be knocked even through the deadliest storm.
