KTOWN DIARY
SATURDAY APRIL 14, 2012

Two weeks ago, I went out with a few friends from my major to celebrate a successful installation to our exhibition. What I did not know is I was in for a cultural change. As we waited outside for about ten minutes, we had reviewed the menu on what it is we want. Most everyone except myself felt they need a beer. Instantly, I knew I was going to be tested. After waiting, one of my friends, Han, led the way down to the bar and restaurant. Thankfully, they all my friends spoke Korean because there was no way I could translated to the waiter what I wanted.

However, I could with google translate, but then again, I'm quite sure it would not turn out too well. Anyway, we sat down order a few Korean Barbecue dishes. Needless to say, the food was awesome. It was almost better than American BBQ. As the night continued, my friends begin to order more and more beers. I could not fathom the amount of beer they consumed. I love them dearly, but there was no way I was going to be drinking. In fact, I dislike alcohol completely. The idea of it is disturbing. As I refer back to that night. I remembered a verse in Proverbs 20:1 stating "Wine is a mocker, Strong drink is a brawler, And whoever is led astray by it is not wise." Many do not understand that even looking at drink can be consider unwise. The reason being is it seduces you like poison.

In Deuteronomy 32:33 it says "intoxicating wine is like the poison of serpents, the cruel venom of asps." I know as a believer I must not do anything that will hurt my testimony, and that is not only directed towards "drunkness"; more so, any wicked act. The idea I am proposing is do not be tempted by poison such as alcohol; if you reject it, you will be blessed for doing so. If you do not believe me, in Daniel 1:5-17 it says when Daniel "refused the king’s intoxicating wine..." he was "blessed for it along with his abstaining friends."

Ps. I have very dedicated to my studies, which consumes my daily life. However, I will be posting a new outfit post soon, as well as, exclusive photographs from the "COLOR HUE TINT SHADE" exhibition.

  1. eek! thank you so much for this post. ah, your insight is amazing, again, love how everything is gospel based.

it irks me so much to see people at my school (c'mon, high school?!) drink (esp. because they're underaged) and then post pictures of dumb things they do. it's really quite unfortunate.

hope you had fun! korean food is the best :)
